Connecting and Building with People of the YMCA

Volunteering at the YMCA

The YMCA food drive can occur twice a month. A food truck that comes from either Walmart, Kroger, or other local grocery stores will donate food to these trucks that will drive to various places in the city to be given to those in need of food.

In the images of boxes above are featuring large bags of garlic and several mini bags of chopped celery. These food drives feature various types of food each time one is held. Typically, the food drives will have a happy medium of fruits and vegetables given to those in need. This happy mixture typically includes; watermelon, broccoli, cauliflower, and strawberries. Occasionally they will have smaller quantities of certain types of foods, such as, pineapple.

In order for the food drive to keep organization and to ensure enough food products are given to each household, depending on the size, some papers are used to jot down or highlight families that have picked up food already or will be picking food up. This ensures that people are getting the food that they need. As pictured above, pastor Gabrielle is keeping the food drive organized.
